British Pie Week

British Pie Week is back for its 5th year, (5th-11th March 2012). The celebration of pies is the perfect opportunity for pub chefs to demonstrate their skills and recipe innovation, whilst profiting from one of Britain’s most loved pastry dishes.

The beauty of pies is anything goes – sweet or savoury! Pies are especially ideal for showcasing the latest seasonal ingredients or simply using up leftovers in the kitchen, the versatility and flexibility of pies makes them perfect addition to menus. Home-made pies can also offer an excellent GP, of course it depends on your menu pricing and ingredient costs but pies can make as much as 70% and will have high appeal with customers seeking value for money when eating out.

Top Tip: For fresh out-of-the-oven pies make your fillings in advance to save time and then bake to order using Jus-Rol pastry – for really easy pies use Jus-Rol’s pre-cut oval and round shapes to top your individual pie dishes!
