Overview

Food, nutrition and exercise are crucial to everyone's general health and well being. Customers should be able to make a varied choice from your menu. Your preparation and cooking methods should be reviewed to ensure you are making the right choices for the health of your customers. Look at the products that you are buying, are you giving your customers too much fat, could you buy a healthier, alternative product?

Ensure that your menu offers:

  • variety
  • customers portions that are not too big & exceeds their daily needs
  • foods rich in starch and fibre
  • lots of opportunities for customers to get their 5 portions of fruit & veg a day
  • moderate amounts of lean meat and dairy foods
  • fatty foods only where necessary and lower fat alternatives where possible
  • food that is lower in salt, try not to add too much salt in the kitchen- use herbs, spices, garlic, vinegar or mustard as flavouring instead
  • Why not incentivise your customers to walk to the pub instead of driving if they can?
