There are many ways of offering your customer great value, ask yourself some simple questions to help you choose the right offer for your customers
• Who is it aimed at? Everyone at all times or certain customers at certain times, eg: Special offer when you show Live Football
• How much do I need to give away to make my offer attractive?
• What is it going to cost me to do the offer?
Most drinks offers fall into one of 4 basic themes
1. Price reductions
2. Added value
3. Collector schemes
4. The chance to win something
By being creative in the way you describe and run your offer you can make them sound much more appealing and tailor them to suit your event.
PRICE REDUCTIONS
These can be straightforward and hard hitting, eg: £1.50 a pint. However, these open ended offers should be avoided and instead consider limiting the availability and linking to more profitable products. How about these ideas…
Special Times
Reduced prices at quiet times to encourage more customers eg: Mad Monday – 5pm to 8pm every Monday, all beer only £1.50 per pint
Special Occasions
Reduced prices to tie in with other events eg: Watch England here – Live Football, all beer £1.99 per pint during the game
Link to Product
Price reductions on specific products that you can more afford to discount, Eg - Cask Ales only £1.99 per pint.
By combining times, occasions and drinks you can make your offer more eye-catching and cost effective for you. How about World Cup 66 Prices:come and watch England v Germany here next Saturday and enjoy a pint of Bombardier Bitter at just £1.99 a pint for 10 minutes after every England goal. If you used a beer you were able to get on special offer from Admiral Taverns your offer would be even more
cost effective. Ask your Sales Development Consultant about the latest offers.
ADDED VALUE
Your customer pays full price for their drink but receives more than just the drink for their money, how about
• BOGOF Buy 1 get 1 free
• 2-4-1 2 for the price of 1
• 3-4-2 3 for the price of 2
• Beer by the jug 4 pint jugs of lager for a discounted price.
• Buy 1 and get another at half price
• Doubles bar Double measures of spirits priced at more than a single but less than 2 singles.
• Food & drink eg: Carling & a Curry, Pie and a Pint
These can be combined with events and occasions to become more exciting and tailored to your event and by being creative you don’t have to stick to these descriptions.
The ultimate price reduction is offering something FREE. This may sound like madness but with some creative thinking about times, occasions and product you can make this possible.
COLLECTOR SCHEMES/ LOYALTY CARDS
The simple idea of collecting a token every time you buy something and then redeeming your tokens for a special offer - usually something free. Collector schemes are an excellent way of rewarding your loyal customers. They are very simple to understand and promote and can be tailored to suite many different
events and occasions, eg:
Gallon Club
Every Monday collect a stamp for each pint of cask ale purchased. Once you have 8 stamps claim your free pint of cask ale.
Football Supporters
Collect a stamp every time you watch an England game here. When you have 5 stamps you can enter our prize draw for an England shirt.

THE CHANCE TO WIN
Free Prize Draw
Investing in a book of raffle tickets will allow you to give out tickets and run a draw to win a prize. You could link the tickets to purchasing certain products, for being in the pub at certain events or a combination of both. The draw itself is another opportunity to have a party. The principle of the free prize draw is that only one person can win.
Spin the wheel
A variation on raffle tickets but with the added theatre of spinning the wheel to see if you land in a winning spot
Throw the dart
A low-tech version of Spin the Wheel – one dart to hit a double or treble….
You have to be in to win
A great way to keep people in until the end of any event is to run a free prize draw in the pub at the end of your event, but you have to be in to win. If you’re not there to claim the prize it gets re-drawn.
